چکیده

Background: Higher prevalence of ESBL producers is alarming in dairy sector. So limiting antimicrobial use may curtail the selection and persistence predominant conjugative plasmids among strains. The study was aimed to determine occurrence extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing E. coli as well their genetic diversity, resistance integrons bovines. Methods: A total 180 faecal samples were screened for presumptive isolates. All isolates subjected screening test confirmed by double disc. Further, these tested presence bla genes those found positive multidrug (MDR) disk diffsion. MDR further intI 1, 2 3 genes. Result: 360 obtained. Out which, 154 (42.77%) be resistant producers. Of isolates, 120 (77.92%) carried gene/s blaTEM, blaCTX-M blaSHV are declared multi drug resistant. 59 integron gene.

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profile of Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL) Producing Escherichia coli from Various Clinical Samples

BACKGROUND Extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli has tremendously increased worldwide and it is one of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality associated with hospital-acquired infections. This could be attributed to association of multi drug resistance in ESBL producing isolates. The present study was aimed to determine the antimicrobial sensitivity profile ...

Phenotypic and Molecular Characterization of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli in Bangladesh

BACKGROUND Resistance to cephalosporins in Enterobacteriaceae is mainly due to the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL). Little is known about ESBL-producing bacteria in Bangladesh. Therefore, the study presents results of phenotypic and molecular characterization of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli from hospitals in Bangladesh. METHODS A total of 339 E. coli isolated from pat...

Extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli and klebsiella pneumoniae in diabetic foot infection.

AIMS Diabetic foot lesions are a major medical, social, and economic problem and are the leading cause of hospitalization for patients with diabetes, worldwide. ESBL-producing bacteria may not be detectable by routine disc diffusion susceptibility test, leading to inappropriate use of antibiotics and treatment failure. There is not much information on ESBL-producing organisms causing diabetic f...

Fecal carriage of Escherichia coli harboring extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) genes by sheep and broilers in Urmia region, Iran

Background: There is a growing concern on the impact of the presence of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli isolated from animals on public health. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of three classes of ESBL genes in E. coli isolates from sheep and broilers at a slaughter in Urmia region, Iran. METHODS: A total of 111 E. coli isolates w...

Quinolone Resistance Mechanisms among Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) Producing Escherichia coli Isolated from Rivers and Lakes in Switzerland

Sixty extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli isolated from rivers and lakes in Switzerland were screened for individual strains additionally exhibiting a reduced quinolone susceptibility phenotype. Totally, 42 such isolates were found and further characterized for their molecular (fluoro)quinolone resistance mechanisms. PCR and sequence analysis were performed to identi...
